I'm from Grayson County Kentucky and have recently experienced a devastating tornado. The tornado destroyed my Father and Uncle's Dental Clinic. The insurance company has been wonderfully cooperative and it seemed as though we'd be back in business in about a week utilizing a temporary building and rented equipment. However, the city of Leitchfield,governed by republicans in name only, have decided to cause us problems by not allowing us to build on our land. I'm still waiting for the details but I do know that my Father and Uncle have been very vocal in opposition to the new city annex of their business and land and the new increased city taxes. The local officials ured them that they would benefit by receiving city sewage and garbage collections (which are more expensive than the private garbage collector that they were forced to stop using). Now the city is claiming that because they never instituted this city sewage system that my Father and Uncle may not be able to build as they wished. We have many patients that are in the middle of various treatments and it seems as though these "loving and caring liberal politicians" do not care about the health care needs of these people. Oh, one other thing, these same politicians, who will remain nameless for now, are in the process of constructing a by-p of Ky state highway 62. Thisroad happens to lie about 6 feet from the decimated dental clinic's entry. They have avoided purchasing the office due to the expense and have devised ridiculous plans in order to avoid it, including elevating the road above the office so that the secretary at our office would see eighteen-wheelers flying by the top of her front window. Now that is placing safety first. My father and Uncle are good Christian Conservatives. They simply want to get back in business to help their patients, their employees and our family. Granted they were not very cordial when our Liberal Lieutenant Gov. Steve Henry came by to show his "support" for the dumb little hicks in Leitchfield, but why should they have to brown-nose with him when they detest everything for which he epitomizes? Is there anything we can do to quickly get back in business and by-p these political and moral idiots? -a very concerned daughter and 4th year dental student, Amanda
