: What makes this man an American icon? Is it his gutsy talk about African Americans and prejudice innuendos? Or is it his ability to be a JACK when it comes to important matters? It is not a case of being liberal or conservative for I myself am considered to be moderate. However, this guy, RUSH, has a real problem with people of color. It is obvious in every show he airs and every comment he makes. I'm sure, if he ever reads this message, he would find a smart yet stupid joke to crack...which shows his lack of maturity as well. How can America characterize such people as being acceptable in our society. They call themselves conservatives...but in all actuality they are racists. They should not be allowed to say some of the things they say. I'm an educated black woman at a predominately white college. I am currently on the dean's list, which would probably surprise Rush Limbaugh who thinks majority of black women are on welfare...well not me. My white contemporary is, however, and you are paying for her food stamps each month. Overall...MR. RUSH should HUSH with his views on my culture and start paying close attention to his own. The rich white people will survive, not on the labor (as if they ever have). So at least give us "colored folk" a chance to enjoy this American Pie. We've been serving it to you all for years.
My definition of racism is rather broad: viewing every significant issue through a racial prism. There are many so-called whites in our society who go for minutes or even hours without thinking about race. Such does not seem to be the case for many so-called blacks in our society, and I can understand why. It is a great tragedy that so much black intellectual power is spent thinking about, talking about and writing about racism--and casting blame for problems that beset American blacks. That is a great loss to everyone, but perhaps it is unavoidable at this time. I doubt that Limbaugh is any more racist--and possibly less so--than the average adult black person in our country. "They should not be allowed to say some of the things they say." Careful. "They" could turn out to be you and me. I believe I understand your anger to some extent, and I wish you well.
