In Reply to: Is sadness the proper feeling? posted by Monica on November 12, 19100 at 15:53:24:

: When I saw Governor Bush the other day on Television, at the mansion in Austin, I was very sad. His demeanor, his expressions, his composure, it all portrayed sadness. I felt sorry for the man who has fought so hard to make us understand the real purpose of his mandate. I wondered what he could have been thinking as he talked to the press and joked around a bit. In the tone of his voice I could sense a little disappointment, perhaps a little cynicism. Yes, I felt sad, yet after thinking about this whole hell the country is going through, I realized that the way he felt was the right way, it was the way of the people.
: All of the American people who really care about this country should feel this way today. A little sadness, a little cynicism, disappointment in a system we all trusted, a system which led us to believe all our lives that we could trust those above us to lead, in a proper, dignifying and courageous way.
: There have been family feuds about this I’m sure. There has been nervousness on the , fights ensued in the streets, animosity grew in places where people socially interacted and gathered for common interests. The market was hurt, retirement funds for the elderly, possibly suffered severe damage. All week I talked to people in a daze, people expressing uncertainties about the future, shaking their heads in disbelief. This hanging doom over all of us, this sense of loss, this fear of the unknown, the split that has occurred between the cles, the ages, the races, the political arenas; all of this should be enough to make us all feel terribly sad, concerned about the hellish place this country is heading to, the shaky grounds we walk everyday. Perhaps this is how countries feel when they are at war.
: An so it is with concern, but above all disgust, that I looked at you,
